Religious Education

Prayers:

In school, we use these prayers every day. In the morning, before lunch, and before hometime. It might be nice for you to continue to use these.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:

Summer term 2. Week 6:

Our focus this Summer Term in RE is: Who cares for this Special World and why?

1) Look at the picture below. What is this place? What happens here?  Discuss with your child that this is the school’s church and that they have been here for the Harvest service last year.

2) Explain that a church is a place where a group of Christians meet together to learn more about God, to pray, to thank God by singing songs and to show God how much they love him. One of the ways Christians show their love for God is by helping people.

Look below of how the church helps both its local community and the global community. Why do people want to do this? (eg why do they give food to food banks, why do they give money to poor children in Africa, why do they send clothes to refugees etc)

3) Now, have a go at doing one of the activities set below!

In school, we will be making a card for Mother Sarah to say thank you for all the collective worships and diddy disciple sessions that she has done with Reception class.

Summer term 2. Week 5:

Our focus this Summer Term in RE is: Who cares for this Special World and why?

This week's RE activity:

1) Re-tell the story of the good Samaritan from the previous lesson. Jesus says that this story tells us how to ‘love your neighbour’. Do you have a neighbour? Who?

2) In Jesus’ story, a man is hurt and needs help. What would we do today if we saw someone who was injured? (tell an adult, call 999, find a first aider or doctor) What about if we saw someone who was sad? Or if they had lost something?

Christians believe that God made everybody on the earth, and so part of taking care of the special world means taking care of the people who live around us.

3) Now, have a go at doing one of the activities set below!

Summer term 2. Week 4:

Our focus this Summer Term in RE is: Who cares for this Special World and why?

This week's RE activity:

1) Look at the pictures below. What is the common thing in all of these pictures?
