Science

Our new topic for the second half of the Summer term is,

'Forces and Magnets'

This week to continue our new topic of Forces and Magnets, we are going to look at magnets and the forces that are used in them, magnetism. Please watch the videos linked below:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zyttyrd/articles/zw889qt

This gives you some idea of how magnetism works around us everyday.

Please also look at these videos, explaining more about magnetism.

Now I would like you to look at the powerpoints attached below. There are 3 powerpoints each teaching you more about magnetism.

The powerpoints have some suggestions for activities that you could do as an experiment, but please CHECK WITH AN ADULT before doing any of them and HAVE AN ADULT HELP / SUPERVISE YOU TO KEEP SAFE. If you can't do any of the activities, don't worry, you can still do the activity shown below.

For the next 2 weeks, I would like you to create a LARGE poster all about what you have learnt about magnetism. You can use the information in the videos, the powerpoints and any other information that you can find.

Some ideas to include are:

-what is a magnet?

-what is attracted to a magnet?

-which materials are magnetic?

-what are the poles of a magnet?

-what are magnets used for?

-how are magnets useful?

Please use a picture for each idea and colour the picture in so it looks lovely and realistic. You could also have a bubble writing title of MAGNETS!

GOOD LUCK!

Please email your work to me at year3@stgps.org.uk
