Possible Reopening of School to More Pupils in June

Date: 14th May 2020 @ 10:17am

Dear Parents/Carers,

You will have seen in the news that schools may possibly reopen to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils on the 1st June 2020. This will only happen if the government believes it to be safe to do so.

We are waiting for further guidance and clarification from the government.  This should enable us to create an action plan for our phased reopening.  If it is deemed safe, we will share our plans with you so you will know how things will work out in practice. For the initial three classes, this is likely to be substantially different from our normal routine.

At a time of uncertainty, I want you to rest assured that we will be doing everything we can to ensure the safe return of these year groups, providing the decision for them to return is confirmed.

Since you know your children and personal situation best, the decision for whether they return to school or not will be made by you; government guidance is that attendance for these children will not be compulsory.

We will keep you updated with all our preparations for making sure the school is as safe as we can make it, so you can make an informed decision.

In the meantime, the school is still open only for vulnerable pupils and the children of critical workers. We know some employers will be encouraging you to return to work, but we are not in a position as yet to extend places to other children until we receive further government guidance.

I would like to thank you for your ongoing support in helping your children learn from home. We will need to keep going with this for a while yet, so please do continue the good work that you are all doing – children and parents!

To help us plan staffing we would like to know how many children will return to school. We will be sending an online survey on Monday 18th May to be completed at your earliest connivance so we can produce a safe plan.

Just a reminder that there is always a senior member of staff available if you have any questions, or just simply feel you want to speak to someone.  Please use the school office number 02077034772.

Warm regards,

Andrew Rojas
