It is such a pleasure to have you back at school. This half-term (Autumn 1) we are concentrating on securing knowledge from Year 4 due to school missed last academmic year. Please remember that your learning, happiness and welfare remain our biggest priority.  

Parents are welcome to message me on the email address provided by the school if you have any questions regarding learning or if you'd like any advice or help. The email address is year5@stgps.org.uk. 

Year 5 Key Information:

  • Our school day begins at 8:45 and finishes at 15:00. We use the Junior Gate on Coleman Road
  • P.E kits should be brought in on a Monday
  • Homework is given out on a Friday and must be brought in on a Wednesday
  • Daily reading should be recorded in reading records and signed by a parent

Below is a suggested daily outline if you are having to self-isolate at home. Activities can be found in the pupil area. The timings and order do not need to be followed but show approximate time to be spent on each subject area.

9:00 – 9:30

9:30-10:00

Reading Activities:

Read with an adult for 15 minutes

Complete Reading Journal Task

10:00 – 10:45

Maths:

Mathletics - 30 mins

Maths games -15 mins

Times tables- 15 mins

10:45-11:15

Break Time

Have a healthy snack and drink some water – maybe do a Super Mover https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers

11:15-12:15

Writing :

Spelling, handwriting and grammar activities – 20 mins approx- complete a variety over the week.                                          

Daily literacy work - please watch videos on Writing page.

12:15-13:15

Lunch Time

Have a healthy lunch, relax and play

13:15 – 15:00

Foundation subjects one subject a day:

Art, Science, Humanities, Computing, Religious Education

15:00 onwards

Get some fresh air, if possible, following  government guidelines

Complete some mindfulness/well-being activities

Read independently – escape into the world of a book.
