Roald Dahl Year 3 2019-20

Mr Taylor

Thank you for visiting our class page!

If your child is in Year 3 please familiarise yourself with this page as it will be updated weekly with useful resources to assist your child with their home learning during this difficult time.

As you are aware, usual classroom teaching has had to be put on hold for most children for the time being. At St. George’s, we are working hard to ensure that no pupil misses out on any learning during this time. With this in mind, please use this page, as a bank of information and resources, to make sure your child continues to make progress.

Do try to stay active and talk about how you are feeling with a trusted adult when you need to as this will really help if you are feeling anxious. There are loads of activities you can do at home inside to stay active, for example:

In the pack that the children received, there was an example timetable of a day that would be similar to the day at school to help give you some structure for their learning along with times spent on activities. In case you have missed it, here it is:

Time   Activity
9.00 - 9.30                   Reading - please use the reading resources outlined in the English - Reading page above, a school book or an appropriate reading book from home.
9.30 - 10.30 English - please use the writing resources outlined in the English - Writing page above and try to complete the task in about an hour.
10.30 - 11.00 Break - NO SCREEN TIME! Try to follow along to one of the movement resources shown above. Alternatively, use Joe Wicks daily workout - https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1/playlists
11.00 - 12.00 Maths - please use the Maths resources outlined in Maths tab above. Aim to work for an hour at the activity.
12.00 - 12.30                                                         Handwriting / Spelling - please complete the handwriting / spelling practice for year 3/4 statutory spellings. The sheet was sent home but another example is linked above under Handwriting
12.30 - 1.30 Lunch - NO SCREEN TIME!
1.30 - 2.00 Reading - please listen to your child read every day - it is the most important thing you can do for their education! Some of this can be independent, at your discretion, as long as they are heard for minimum 10 minutes a day.
2.00 - 3.00 Science / RE / Humanities / Art and Design / Computing / PE - please choose one of these to complete the week's activity each day - your choice which day for which activity!
After school time Mathletics will be set each week or the children can continue any activities they haven't completed or would like to continue each day!

Remember, if you have any requests for learning, a parent can send me an email at year3@stgps.org.uk and I will reply as soon as possible!

I am sure that the pupils in Roald Dahl class will cope very well in this uncertain time, using their independence and valour to make the most of this time to further their learning as best as possible.

Keep safe and stay positive!
